New Controls of FACEBOOK Privacy

Sekitar Pukul 02.46 WITA, tepatnya tanggal 30 Mei 2010, seperti biasa Ambae.exe memeriksa Beranda Profile Facebook miliknya.

Ucapan terima kasih pula terhaturkan atas segala do'a dan semangat kepada Penulis.

Baiklah, langsung saja kita lihat beberapa hal tentang Kontrol Privacy FACEBOOK yang terbaru.

Pengendalian Privasi

Kendali setiap kali Anda mengirim

Watermark to Protect Photos

The popularity and simplicity of modern digital cameras mean that it’s never been easier to take great photos. Throw in plenty of free storage available on the internet and the result is that millions of people now proudly display their digital photographs online for others to enjoy. But not to rip off.

There are various ways to protect images stored on photo-sharing services such as Flickr. Sharing only small copies of each photo works well, but there’s also an excellent DIY option that allows pictures to be seen in all their high resolution glory watermarking.

This adds a faint copyright message across the photo that allows people to see the detail, but prevents them from ‘borrowing’ it for their own use. Here’s how to do it with the free Photofiltre image editing program.

Start by getting Photofiltre. Launch your web browser, click once in the Address or Location line and type www.snipurl.com/3hpua . Follow the instructions to download the program and install it. Next, find a photo, load it into Photofiltre and then click on the ‘T’ button in the button bar to open the Text dialogue box. From here we’ll be able to add and then format the text that will be placed over the picture as a watermark.

Click in the empty Text input box and type in the text for the watermark. There are plenty of options to change the look of the text, but for now, just use the size control to increase the size of the text to something that sounds reasonable; in this example we’ve increased it to 30. Click OK to add the text to the picture. Here it’s clear that the text is nowhere near big enough, so we’ll work on it some more. Double-click the text to open the dialogue box again.

Here we’ve made a couple of significant changes. First, we’ve increased the size from 30 to 250 - although this seems like an enormous jump, some trial and error experimentation with different sizes in between has shown us that it will work well. Next, we’ve opened the dropdown menu next to the colour command and chosen white. We could also change the font from Arial Black, but we like it. Clicking OK will make the changes. After that, double-click the text to open the dialogue box again.

Although the text is the right size, it’s far too imposing and makes it hard for anyone to get a really good look at the image itself. Let’s fix that. With the dialogue box still open click the Effects tab at the top. See the Opacity slider? Drag it to the left with the cursor until it’s set to about 30%. You might want to go lower or higher - find a setting that suits you. Put a tick in the Drop shadow box, leave all the other settings as they are and click OK.

We’d like to add a proper copyright symbol, but Photofiltre won’t let us. Instead, we’ve opened our word processor - Word - and created it using that. The quick way is to hold down the Ctrl and Alt keys and press ‘C’. Then just highlight the symbol, go to the Edit menu and choose Copy and switch back to Photofiltre. Make sure the Text dialogue is open, click the Text tab, click once in front of the existing text, then press Ctrl and V to paste the symbol into place like so.

Press the spacebar once to put a space between the copyright symbol and the rest of text. Then to finish off, change the angle of the text so that it runs from bottom left to top right. Click the lower arrow on the control next to Angle and change the ‘00’ setting there to ‘-30’. Click OK and the copyright message will run diagonally across the image, with the symbol in place. Save the picture with the copyright watermark in place and that’s that.

Wallpapers that Change Automatically

The Windows XP wallpaper, a blue sky over green fields, is familiar to most computer users but that doesn’t mean we have to look at it all the time. It’s easy enough to change wallpapers and use photos stored on the hard disk or grabbed from websites, but it requires effort to track down good ones after an initial burst of enthusiasm for something new.

This Workshop explains how to change that by installing a simple free program, John's Background Switcher, that will deliver attractive new Desktop backgrounds automatically as individual images, scrapbooks or full-screen collages.

As we will show, these pictures can be stored on your computer or retrieved from free internet photo libraries and this opens up endless possibilities for giving your desktop that personal touch.

First, follow step below to download John's Background Switcher.

Go to www.johnsadventures.com by entering this address in your browser or clicking the link in the intro. Click the My Software link at the top and when the page loads, choose John’s Background Switcher. Scroll down the screen to the ‘Download the installer’ link and click that once. Ignore any security warnings and click Save. Choose a location for the download, such as the Desktop, and then click the Save button again to copy the file to your PC.

Find the Switcher Setup icon and double-click it. Ignore the Open File Security Warning dialogue and click Run. Follow the instructions to set up the software, accept the licence agreement and then when the last dialogue box appears, leave the two options there ticked and click the Finish button. After a second the ‘What’s New’ text file will open along with the Options dialogue where Background Switcher stores all its important settings. To get started straight away, click Yes to have the program use its default sources for photographs.

By default, Background Switcher will take photos from several sources on the free Flickr photo-sharing service and then display them full-screen, one after the other, changing every hour. For fun, we’re going to set pictures to change every minute so we get a better sense of what’s on offer. Open the dropdown menu and select 1 minute. We’ll explore other online sources of photos in the panel you'll see on the left and play with some of the settings a bit later on.

Click the OK button to confirm the change and have a read through the What’s New file; then close it by clicking the ‘X’ in the top right-hand corner. Move the mouse pointer down to the Windows Notification Area at the bottom right of the Taskbar, find the new Background Switcher icon there and right-click on it once to open the menu. From here it’s easy to move back and forth between wallpapers, save a particular image to disk, mark it to be ignored in future by selecting Never Show Again, and so on.

We’re going to use some of our own photos with Background Switcher. With the menu still open, move the mouse pointer to Settings and left-click. When the dialogue box opens, make sure Flickr is selected as the photo source in the left-hand panel and click Add. We’ve got a free Flickr account (set one up by visiting www.flickr.com) so we’re going to pull photographs down onto our test PC’s Windows Desktop from that. At the Photo Selection dialogue box we choose ‘A Specific Person’ from the dropdown menu, then type in our user name and click OK.

Click OK to confirm any changes. From now on, our own photos stored on Flickr will be mixed in with those taken from Background Switcher’s default selection. Look carefully at the top-right corner of this screen, it says ‘Sunset over lake’ by Adurman (that’s our account name). Let’s try something else. Right-click the Background Switcher icon again and choose Settings. This time, click the Folders icon on the left. This lets the program display pictures stored in any folder on the PC. The default is My Pictures, which is fine, so we click OK.

Background Switcher has some other interesting ways to showcase pictures. Open the Settings dialogue again and either stick with the same photo source, or switch to another. Then, find the Photo Options heading in the dialogue box. Open the dropdown menu and choose one of the other available layouts. Here we’re going to pick ‘thumbnail mosaic’. Click OK to confirm and after a moment, the Desktop fills with tiny pictures. (We’ve re-opened the Settings dialogue here to show the chosen option and the effect when it’s applied.)

Experiment with different layout styles by picking from the Photo Options list (the one in the background to this screen is ‘snapshot scrapbook’) and then go back to the Settings dialogue box and choose More Settings from the left-hand panel. From here it’s possible to alter the way Background Switcher behaves in all sorts of useful ways - the orientation of the photos, for example - as well as adding useful extras. Here we’re going to include a static three-month calendar on the Desktop.

Stay in the More Settings dialogue for a moment and click the next option down in the left-hand panel - Montages. Here Background Switcher provides the settings to change the individual size of the thumbnails themselves as well as those used in the scrapbook layout. It’s also possible to select a random background picture and add an effect such as monochrome or sepia. Here we’ve selected a random background and turned the effect off. Click OK to confirm the changes.

And here’s the result of our changes. Notice that the mosaic has been replaced by an attractive scrapbook-style arrangement with pictures scattered across the screen. This also features a calendar for the current month (larger and to the left) as well as two months ahead as specified in Step 8 (this is for reference only, it’s not a ‘live’ calendar). This kind of flexibility makes Background Switcher a genuinely powerful way to spice up any Windows Desktop.

Background Switcher is also smart enough to gather pictures from other sources, notably the Yahoo search engine and any site that has an RSS feed designed to push information over the internet to a PC. Let’s start with Yahoo. From the Settings dialogue, click the Yahoo button in the left-hand panel. After that, click the Add button and then type in a search query, for example ‘cat’, and then click OK. Again, we’ve re-opened the dialogue box to show the setting and the result.

Don’t just stick with a single search item. Instead, add as many to this list as you like. Here, for example, we’ve continued the pet theme by adding dog, horse and cow in exactly the same way as described in the previous step. Using the Yahoo search engine in this way limits the layout options offered by the program, restricting them to variations on a single image displayed at full screen as shown here.

Background Switcher also supports RSS feeds, which are often a good source of unusual or more up-to-date photographs. With the Settings dialogue open, click the RSS Feeds button in left-hand panel and then click Add. The Add/Edit Feed dialogue has some suggestions so click on one to open a web browser and go to the site. We’ve chosen Photobucket, home to a wide selection of great-looking photos on all sorts of subjects. When the site loads, we find a photo category we like (funny signs) scroll to the bottom and click the RSS icon.

When the RSS web page loads, right-click on the address in the Address or Location line at the top (where the ‘http://’ is) and choose Copy. Go back to Background Switcher and right-click in the empty URL box and choose Paste. Click the Test button to confirm the address is correct and that the feed works and then click OK and then OK again. Click OK twice more to close all the dialogue boxes. Again we have re-opened the Settings dialogue to show both the RSS feed and the photos it produces.

Save Memory Card of Camera

Olehnya, lakukan penghapusan Foto melalui media komputer.

Siapkan Kartu Memori Cadangan/Sekunder

Misalnya saja, sebuah Memory Card memiliki batas kadaluarsa hingga 1 tahun sejak pemakaian.

Back Up secara berkala file foto di dalamnya. File Foto pun aman.

Better Photo Printing

Suppose you have just taken an award-winning photo with perfect composition, great exposure, and a Pulitzer Prize-worthy subject. Or, at the very least, you've managed to avoid the five most common photo mistakes, and you want to hang the result in the living room.

In the old days, photo printing was left to the professionals who developed our film. These days, though, we often print our digital photos at home, on our own equipment. All our hard work is for naught if we don't take care during the printing process. That means we have to master the art of photo printing.

This week, I've got five tips to help you get better results from your inkjet photo printer.

Choose the Right Print Size

Computers are obedient machines: You can tell your PC to print a photo at any size and it'll comply. That doesn't mean the results will be any good, though. You need enough pixels in your image file for the printed-out photo to be sharp at the desired print size. There are a lot of factors that go into print quality, but it's safe to say that you need at least 200 dots per inch (dpi) for acceptable image quality, and at least 300 dpi for excellent print quality. But what does that mean, and how can you figure out the best print size for a particular photo?

You can ignore any properties in your photo editing program that report a particular dpi value or recommend a particular print size; that's hogwash. Instead, just do this: Determine the maximum recommended print size by dividing the photo's pixel size by 200 (or 300 for higher-quality prints).

Not sure how many pixels are in your photo? Right-click the image file's icon, choose Properties, and click the Details tab. You should see the width and height listed in pixels. (Or, if you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7, you can just click a photo's icon and look for the information in the details pane at the bottom of the folder.)

Suppose your photo measures 2000 by 3400 pixels. Divide each dimension by 200, and you get 10 by 17. That means you could print the photo as large as 10 by 17 inches and get acceptable results. If you want a higher-quality printout, divide the pixel size by 300. That gives you 6 by 11, which means you should print it no larger than about 5 by 7 inches for the best results.

Of course, this is approximate; a lot of other factors affect photo quality. This technique, however, gives you a good rule of thumb for deciding whether a photo will print well.

Choose the Right Paper

You can get some stunning photos from modern inkjet printers, but not just any paper will do. Plain paper, for example, absorbs the ink. This washes out the colors and destroys fine detail, reducing the print's overall sharpness. It's fine for text, and you can use it to print drafts of your digital images. For best results, use the printer manufacturer's recommended photo paper.

Of course, you're still not out of the woods. Photo paper comes in a variety of formats. The most common varieties are glossy and semi-glossy (also called matte). Glossy is exactly what it sounds like: It's shiny and gives your photos a resounding visual punch. Glossy paper is very reflective, though, and it can generate glare in direct sunlight. It also smudges easily. If you want a less reflective, less smudgy alternative, consider matte. It's not quite as sharp as glossy paper, and fine detail can get lost in the surface--but, personally, I like the freckled finish of matte paper.

Stick With the Manufacturer's Ink

I might not win any popularity contests by saying this, but I highly recommend using the ink recommended (and sold) by your printer's manufacturer.

Printers aren't stand-alone gadgets that work with any fluid you pour into them, like oil in a car engine. They're engineered to work best with specific ink formulations, and using "remanufactured" or refilled ink cartridges will result in lower-quality prints. This can be especially obvious when you're printing photos.

Verify the Print Settings

When you're ready to print a photo, double-check all the important settings. You might think that's obvious, but you'd be surprised how often you get lousy prints because some of these settings are loopy.

Is the paper loaded correctly? Photo paper is designed to be printed on a particular side. If you print on the wrong side, the ink won't absorb properly, and your photo won't look good.

Did you set the right paper type and ink type in the print settings dialog? Be sure those settings match the specs on the box. It's not so bad if you configure the printer for premium paper and quality ink when printing on plain paper, but you definitely don't want the printer to think you're using plain paper or draft settings when outputting to high-quality photo paper.

Maintain Your Printer

Take good care of your printer. Inkjet printers have finicky print nozzles that occasionally clog and need to be cleaned. Every month or two, it's a good idea to run your printer's print head cleaning and print head alignment utilities (usually available from the printer options in the Windows Control Panel). And you shouldn't let your printer go unused for weeks at a time. Even if you have a printer that's intended just for photos, I highly recommend printing on it at least once a week whether you need to or not. That keeps the nozzles from gumming up, which can spell disaster.

Photo of Facebook in Outlook

Microsoft Outlook lets you associate photos with the contacts in your address book. And most Facebook users have profile photos associated with their accounts. Wouldn't it be great if you could download those profile photos into Outlook?

That's the idea behind OutSync, a free utility that copies photos of your Facebook friends into matching contacts in Outlook.

Just install and run the program, then give it permission to access your Facebook account. I can understand being a little skittish about security, but the developer of OutSync works for Microsoft, so you're probably safe. That said, this is not an official Microsoft product.

In a minute or two, OutSync should find Facebook friends that match entries in your address book. By default, it will select all of them for syncing, but you can manually remove any contacts you want by clearing their accompanying checkbox.

From there, just click Sync and you're done! In my quick, informal test, OutSync worked exactly as advertised, pulling a couple dozen photos from Facebook into Outlook.

Nexus One and Android 2.1

Google's Nexus One is an astonishingly fast phone. Use it for more than a few minutes and you'll see that much of the slowness we've learned to associate with smart phones is not the fault of the network but of the phones themselves specifically, their processors.

Today's 3G networks can deliver data to your phone faster than the broadband connections that many people have in their homes: a laptop equipped with one of those USB modems from AT&T or Verizon functions splendidly. Yet most smart phones take several seconds to click between Web pages or launch a new application. That's because the typesetting and image processing necessary to turn the text of a Web page into something that can be displayed on a screen takes a lot of computation. And most phones have comparatively slow processors in many cases, they are no faster than a Pentium 3 from 10 years ago.
The Nexus One, by contrast, has a one gigahertz processor more than 60 percent faster than the processors in the iPhone 3GS, Palm Pre, and BlackBerry Bold 9700, according to several benchmarks. In my testing, it took 2.5 seconds, on average, to click from one Wikipedia page to the next using T Mobile's 3G network and half that long when using a Wi-Fi connection. You can open applications, zoom in on photos, and search your phone's databases instantly. The faster processor dramatically improves the phone's enjoyability.
The Nexus One also has a beautiful high resolution screen 800 by 480 pixels crammed into 3.7 diagonal inches for a display that's roughly 250 dots per inch, making even tiny text quite legible. (Apple's new iPad, in comparison, is 1,024 by 768 pixels on a screen that's 9.7 inches, for just 132 dots per inch.) The Nexus's five megapixel camera can autofocus and takes detailed photos at six centimeters, and it has a surprisingly bright LED flash. The phone also has a standard 3.5 millimeter headphone jack, which means you don't need those bulky adapters to use high end earbuds.
Google's phone runs an updated version of the company's Android operating system, the same software that's at the heart of Motorola's new Cliq and Droid phones, T Mobile's G1 (a.k.a the HTC Dream), and even the Barnes and Noble Nook e book reader. But unlike the others, the Nexus One runs Android 2.1, the latest and greatest version (of course). Droid runs 2.0, although it's scheduled for an update, while the G1 is still running Android 1.6.
Android has been on the market for nearly 18 months, and this new version has a significantly improved user interface that requires fewer button presses for the same functions. For example, when you are in the middle of a phone call, you can now use buttons on the screen to add a call, display the dial pad, switch to and from a Bluetooth headset, mute, and control the built in speakerphone (on the G1, these features all require clicking the Menu button). The screens also show more information. For example, a photo of the person you're speaking with is displayed in the middle of screen; put that person on hold to take another call, and the first caller's photo appears behind the second photo.
Photos appear more often than you might expect, thanks to the close integration between the Android and Facebook. Type your Facebook username and password into the phone's Facebook application and the phone's Contacts (the address book) will immediately be populated with the names, phone numbers, photos, and even status updates of your Facebook friends. You can decide whether you want to have the phone augment existing contacts with the Facebook information, bring all of your Facebook contacts into the phone's contact list, or remove all of the Facebook data from that list. It's creepy, sure, but also kind of useful.
