Setiap kali membahas perihal social network, tidak pernah lepas dengan Facebook. Kian hari Facebook mampu menjaring lebih banyak pengguna dibanding social network lainnya. Hal ini terjadi karena jejaring satu ini begitu mudah dipahami oleh setiap kalangan. Dengan berbagai fitur terbaru ditawarkan, membuatnya semakin diminati dari waktu ke waktu. Meski demikian, tidak sedikit pula yang memilih untuk hengkang dari Facebook atau pun sekedar sebagai pengguna pasif. Beberapa dari Facebooker pasif ini lebih aktif di Twitter, Koprol, LinkedIn, Blogger, Google Wave, Yahoo Messenger!, Google Talk dan lain sebagainya. Tetapi, bagi Netter yang akrab dengan kebiasaan sharing, tentunya akan menggunakan keseluruhan jejaring sosial yang ada termasuk Facebook untuk berbagi informasi kepada all Netter. Misalnya saja dengan menginformasikan kepada Facebooker terhadap artikel terbaru pada Blog yang dikelolanya.

Lalu apa fitur terbaru Facebook kali ini. Facebook menawarkan ruang jajak pendapat bagi para Facebooker yang ditempatkan di Wall alias Dinding dengan nama Fitur Pertanyaan/Question. Fitur ini masih belum tersedia untuk semua Facebooker, jadi untuk sementara hanya sebagian Facebooker yang telah dapat menggunakannya. Seperti apa cara kerjanya? Seorang Facebooker mengajukan pertanyaan dengan melampirkan berbagai opsi jawaban berupa pilihan ganda. Opsi jawaban tersebut akan diberi suara (Vote) oleh para Facebooker penjawab.

Saat Anda bertanya, pertanyaannya dibagikan di profil Anda dan di Kabar Berita teman. Jika ada teman yang menjawab atau mengikuti pertanyaan Anda, tindakan itu akan menghasilkan berita juga di profilnya dan di Kabar Berita teman-temannya, yang meningkatkan jumlah orang yang dapat melihat dan menjawab pertanyaan Anda. Dengan demikian, siapa pun di Facebook dapat berpartisipasi dalam pertanyaan yang Anda ajukan, jadi Anda bisa mendapat jawaban dari orang-orang di luar teman langsung.

Daripada bingung, lebih baik langsung menuju tutorialnya.

Steps 1
Login seperti biasa ke Facebook dengan bantuan Email dan Password yang telah Anda miliki. Pada Halaman Beranda ataupun Dinding, klik menu Pertanyaan pada bagian atas kolom status.


Steps 2
Selanjutnya muncul kolom isian pertanyaan, masukkan pertanyaan yang diinginkan pada kolom pertanyaan.

Steps 3
Kemudian kolom berikutnya terdapat opsi jawaban pilihan ganda untuk memberikan pilihan kepada penjawab atas jawabannya. Klik Tambahkan Opsi Angket/Add Poll Options (maksimal sebanyak 10 kali) untuk menentukan opsi jawaban atas pertanyaan Anda.


Steps 4
Mengenai privacy, Jajak pendapat ini dapat Anda atur apakah orang lain dapat menambahkan opsi atau tidak. Klik untuk menandai/melepas tanda centang pada menu Izinkan siapa saja untuk menambahkan opsi.

Steps 5
Bilamana Anda telah yakin dengan pilihan Pertanyaan dan Opsi Jawaban, langkah selanjutnya adalah dengan mengeklik Ajukan Pertanyaan.


Pada Steps ke-5, secara umum tuntas tahapan pembuatan jajak pendapat tersebut. Sekarang yang perlu diperhatikan antara lain :

• Akses keseluruhan Halaman Pertanyaan, baik yang diajukan teman maupun yang dijawab oleh teman, klik Menu Pertanyaan/Question pada Left Sidebar (sisi kiri) Halaman Beranda.
• Fitur Pertanyaan dapat diterapkan di Halaman Profile, Halaman Group dan Halaman Profile Penggemar (Fan Pages).
• Sarankan pertanyaan kepada teman Facebooker yang lain dengan mengeklik Tanya Teman/Ask Friends pada bagian bawah setiap segmen Pertanyaan.
• Tidak semua pertanyaan dapat Anda jawab. Hal ini tergantung pada pengaturan Privacy yang diterapkan Profile Facebooker bersangkutan. Untuk melihat dan menyesuaikan siapa yang dapat mengomentari kiriman Anda, kunjungi Pengaturan Privasi, klik Sesuaikan Pengaturan di bagian Berbagi di Facebook, lalu sesuaikan pengaturan untuk Dapat mengomentari kiriman.
• Anda dapat melaporkan setiap pertanyaan maupun kiriman jawaban yang dianggap melanggara ketentuan Facebook. Letakkan kursor di atas kiriman tersebut, lalu klik simbol X untuk Tandai sebagai Spam atau Laporkan Pelanggaran.
• Anda dapat berlangganan terhadap setiap pertanyaan dengan mengeklik Ikuti/Follow pada bagian bawah setiap segmen Pertanyaan. Untuk berhenti berlangganan, klik Berhenti Mengikuti/Unfollow. Hal semacam ini dikenal dengan RSS Feed.
• Untuk menerapkan metode Jajak Pendapat secara utuh, hapus centang di kotak centang Izinkan siapa saja untuk menambahkan opsi. Dengan sendirinya Anda memaksa Facebooker untuk memilih opsi yang Anda tawarkan.
• Bagi Facebooker yang belum mendapati Fitur Pertanyaan pada Profilenya, silakan Anda kunjungi Halaman Pertanyaan. Seperti diuraikan di awal artikel ini bahwa untuk sementara hanya sebagian Facebooker yang telah dapat menggunakannya. Admin Facebook menjanjikan bahwa beberapa waktu ke depan fitur tersebut dapat dinikmati semua Facebooker.
• Fitur Pertanyaan tidak dapat dimatikan atau dinonaktifkan dari Profile Facebook karena fitur ini tertanam langsung di jantung Halaman Facebook. Sama halnya dengan fitur Foto dan Event. Namun setiap segmen pertanyaan dapat dengan mudah dihapus dengan mengeklik tombol Hapus di bagian kanan bawah setiap segmen pertanyaan.
• Setiap Jawaban/Kiriman yang telah dikirimkan, dapat Anda hapus seketika. Kunjungi kotak pertanyaan dimaksud dan cari kiriman Anda di bagian Kiriman. Lalu, klik simbol X di kanan atas kiriman Anda untuk menghapusnya.
• Untuk menghapus suara Anda dari jajak pendapat, hapus saja centang di sebelah opsi yang Anda beri suara.
• Untuk menghapus opsi pertanyaan yang diberi suara, kunjungi kotak pertanyaan tersebut dan klik tombol Edit opsi di bagian kanan bawah. Lalu, Anda dapat menghapus opsi satu per satu dengan mengeklik simbol X disebelahnya.
  Attention.........!!!Menghapus opsi pertanyaan akan menghapus juga suara yang terkait dengan opsi tersebut.
• Untuk mengakses semua jawaban, klik Lainnya pada setiap segmen Pertanyaan.
• Fitur Pertanyaan akan memunculkan banyak pertanyaan dan jawaban dari para Facebooker. Sebesar apakah peranan Search Engine mengakses fitur tersebut? Admin Facebook mengklaim bahwa saat ini mesin pencari tidak dapat mengindeks Pertanyaan Facebook. Pertanyaan hanya dapat dilihat oleh para Facebooker karena Facebook lebih mengutamakan Facebooker. Sementara untuk anonim tidak dapat mengakses apalagi menjawab dan memberikan suara.
• Anda seorang admin pada Halaman Profile Penggemar (Fan Pages), Anda dapat memilih antara menghapus fitur ini dari Halaman Anda atau menyembunyikannya di balik tautan Lainnya.

Amankan Account Facebook

Facebook yang begitu fenomenal memiliki tingkat kerawanan yang fenomenal pula. Tak jarang profile Facebooker diambil alih oleh Facebooker tak bertanggung jawab yang selanjutnya disalahgunakan. Pengamanan yang terus ditingkatkan Admin Facebook seakan tidak efektif menangkis segala ancaman. Namun, tidak dapat dipungkiri bahwa bukan hanya Facebook, Social Network lainnya pun dapat mengalami hal buruk yang sama. Userlah yang menjadi korban, kerugian pun dialaminya meski tidak terkait langsung dengan materi/keuangan/duit.

Salah satu pengamanan dari Facebook adalah dengan diterapkannya fitur Keamanan Akun. Fitur ini diklaim menjadi Perlindungan Ekstra terhadap Account Facebook. Lalu, apa yang terjadi bilamana Account Facebooker diambil alih pihak tidak bertanggung jawab. Hal pertama tentunya, Password Account terebut telah diganti dengan Password yang baru. Fenomena berikutnya yang sering terjadi adalah Facebooker tersebut menggunakan Profile bersangkutan meng-update status yang berbeda dengan kebiasaan sang pemilik Account. Dari fenomena tersebut semestinya dapat dicurigai bahwa Profile dimaksud telah diambil alih. Pertanyaan berikutnya, apa tanda-tanda awal Account kita telah diambil alih. Kejadian umum, sang pemilik dalam keadaan Login pada Profile-nya, tiba-tiba Logout dan diminta untuk Login kembali. Disaat berusaha untuk login kembali, ternyata Facebook menolak dengan alasan Username atau Password bersangkutan salah. Bila kejadiannya seperti ini, maka dengan cepat lakukan upaya untuk mengambil alih kembali Account milik kita. Pada postingan kali, tidak akan dibahas tata cara balas-membalas atau pun tata cara mengambil alih Account milik Facebooker yang lain. Kiranya pertanyaan berkaitan dengan hal tersebut dan semacamnya tidak akan direspon, terima kasih sebelumnya atas pengertiannya. Upzzz, kata-katanya seperti kalimat penutup pada Surat Resmi.

Facebooker yang terhormat, berikut beberapa tahapan yang dapat dilakukan untuk mengembalikan Account milik kita yang telah diambil alih sebelumnya.

Steps 1
Kunjungi Website penyedia email yang digunakan untuk Login pada Account Facebook tersebut. Secara umum Facebooker menggunakan Gmail dan Yahoo!. Login seperti biasa kemudian telusuri Pesan Masuk. Temukan pesan dari Facebook berupa Konfirmasi Mengubah Ulang Kata Sandi Facebook. Bila Keamanan Account pada Profile Anda telah diaktifkan, maka Facebook juga akan mengirimkan pesan berupa pemberitahuan bahwa Account tersebut diakses dari perangkat tertentu. Dengan sendirinya dapat Anda ketahui bahwa Account dimaksud diakses dari perangkat yang tidak Anda kenali. Selanjutnya ikuti Link di dalamnya yang akan mengarahkan pada 5 (lima) langkah utama dalam mengembalikan Account milik kita. Namun bila pesan yang satu ini tidak ada, segera kunjungi Pusat Bantuan Facebook.


Steps 2
Klik Amankan Akun pada halaman Facebook untuk memulai mengamankan Akun Anda


Steps 3
Berikutnya kita diperhadapkan pada 5 langkah seperti yang disampaikan sebelumnya. Klik Lanjutkan, maka segeralah kita beranjak menuju Steps selanjutnya.


Steps 4
Masukkan dua kata berupa kode Captcha dengan mengetik pada kolom yang disediakan. Kemudian klik Kirim.


Steps 5
Pada tahapan ini, Facebooker diminta menentukan Password yang baru. Perlu diperhatikan bahwa Facebook tidak menerima Password yang pernah digunakan sebelumnya pada Account tersebut. Sehingga Facebooker harus membuat Password yang benar-benar baru. Tergantung Anda dalam menentukan seberapa kuat Passwordnya dengan merangkainya sedemikian rupa. Lalu klik Ganti Kata Sandi untuk kembali beranjak dari kursi tahapan ini.


Steps 6
Emailkan Perubahan Kata Sandi. Pada tahapan ini Anda diminta menentukan email konfirmasi yang akan digunakan untuk mengonfirmasi hasil perubahan Password tadi. Pilih emailnya dengan mencentang kotak kecil masing-masing di bagian kanan, kemudian klik Lanjutkan.


Steps 7
Periksa aktifitas Login. Facebook mendeteksi aktifitas Login pada Account tersebut pada rentang waktu, perangkat dan lokasi tertentu. Aktifitas ini yang menguraikan mengenai pengambil alihan Account bersangkutan. Setelah semua tahapan ini selesai, Anda dapat mengetahuinya lebih lanjut dengan mengecek Informasi Pemberitahuan Masuk Keamanan Akun pada menu Pengaturan Akun. Namun, selesaikan terlebih dahulu tahapan demi tahapan dengan mengeklik Lanjutkan.


Steps 8
Setelah tahapan demi tahapan diikuti, saatnya mengunjungi Profile kita dengan mengeklik Kembali ke Beranda Facebook.


Steps 9
Bila Anda berhasil melalui semua tahapan, telusuri kembali Pesan Masuk dari Facebook pada Email Anda berupa Konfirmasi Perubahan Password. Cukup dibaca dan diketahui pesan tersebut, tidak perlu dibalas atau pun mengeklik Link di dalamnya.


Steps 10
Kembali ke FACEBOOK, Klik Menu Akun dan pilih Pengaturan Akun. Pada Sub Menu Keamanan Akun, perhatikan informasi yang disajikan. Seperti diuraikan pada Steps 7, terdapat informasi yang menjelaskan bahwa Account dimaksud telah diakses dari perangkat tertentu oleh Facebooker tidak bertanggung jawab. Hapus perangkat tersebut dari daftar agar perangkat dimaksud tidak dapat mengaksesnya lagi di kemudian hari.


Dengan mengikuti tahapan di atas, Insya Allah Account Facebook sobat Facebooker maupun Blogger dapat diambil alih kembali dari tangan-tangan tidak bertanggung jawab. Namun, hal ini tentunya tidak menjamin keamanan murni terhadap Account Anda. Kendalikan Privacy, Kontrol Keamanan dan terus cek perubahan yang mungkin terjadi pada Account Anda agar keamanan Account tetap terjaga dari jangkauan tangan-tangan tidak bertanggung jawab. New Controls of FACEBOOK Privacy

Sekian lama FACEBOOK mendapat kecaman keras karena dianggap terlalu mengumbar privacy FACEBOOKER. Sebagian informasi tidak diharapkan untuk dapat dibuka secara publik oleh pengguna Facebook lainnya. Namun yang terjadi justru lain. Tidak sekedar dibuka dan dilihat. Melainkan lebih lagi pada akses penuh terhadap profile tertentu yang pada dasarnya telah disetting "Private" alias "not Pubic". Sistem Keamanan FACEBOOK kian rancuh, demikian diungkapkan beberapa Netter.

Terkait dengan itu, melalui BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) beredar pesan yang mengindikasikan bahwa FACEBOOK akan ditutup pada tanggal 31 Mei 2010 jam 13.23. Pesan tersebut diantaranya berbunyi "Kabar ini bukan sekedar informasi! Jika kamu mempunyai foto yang pribadi, silahkan simpan. Tidak ada lagi Facebook, ini nyata!". Benar tidaknya pernyataan tersebut masih belum bisa dipertanggungjawabkan.

Nah, seperti apa langkah Mark Zuckerberg (sang pendiri Facebook) menyikapi hal tersebut...???

Sekitar Pukul 02.46 WITA, tepatnya tanggal 30 Mei 2010, seperti biasa Ambae.exe memeriksa Beranda Profile Facebook miliknya. Muncullah pemberitahuan pada halaman Beranda tersebut yang isinya berupa "Improved privacy controls".

Meski kondisi masih sangat tidak stabil. Namun hati ini merasa terpanggil untuk BERBAGI sesuatu mengenai FACEBOOK kepada para BLOGGER. Adapun lebih jelasnya, rekan-rekan dapat menyimak pernyataan Daeng Zuckerberg dengan mengunjungi Blog Facebook atau Facebook’s Privacy Policy atau Facebook’s Privacy Explanation. Rekan-rekan yang belum kebagian comment balasan maupun kunjungan balik ke tempatnya, melalui kesempatan ini terhaturkan permohonan maaf yang sebesar-besarnya. Pengendalian Privasi
Pengaturan yang Anda pilih mengontrol siapa dan aplikasi apa yang dapat melihat informasi Anda, Anda dapat berbagi informasi dengan teman, teman dari teman atau semua orang, dan kami menawarkan pengaturan terlebih dulu untuk membantu Anda melakukannya; atau jika Anda mau, Anda dapat menyesuaikan sendiri pengaturan Anda.

Berbagi informasi di Facebook
Bagian ini mengontrol siapa yang dapat melihat konten yang Anda kirim sehari-hari (pembaruan status, foto dan video). Ini juga mencakup beberapa hal yang Anda bagikan tentang diri sendiri (tanggal lahir dan informasi kontak) dan konten yang dibagikan orang lain tentang Anda (komentar pada foto dan foto dan video dengan Anda yang ditandai di dalamnya). Aplikasi hanya dapat melihat informasi yang telah Anda sediakan untuk semua orang. Untuk mengakses lebih banyak, aplikasi harus meminta izin untuk setiap potongan informasi, dan itu hanya bisa untuk informasi yang mereka perlukan untuk bekerja.

Kendali untuk penandaan Anda
Anda mengendalikan siapa yang dapat melihat Anda yang ditandai dalam foto atau video yang muncul di profil Anda. Ingat, bahwa pemilik foto dapat tetap berbagi foto dengan orang yang tidak berteman dengan Anda, jadi hapus tanda dari foto atau video jika Anda tidak ingin hal itu terjadi.

Plugin sosial

Choosing the Right Desktop PC

Today's modern desktop PCs offer a wealth of options: You can go for a PC with a fixed retail configuration, or you can customize your system by stepping through a sometimes dizzying array of choices from a configure to order vendor. The resulting array of components is no longer wrapped up in a beige box, but in a colorful shell of highly variable shape and size, differentiated by indecipherable naming conventions.

Presented with so many possibilities, you need to narrow the field by considering what you want to use your new desktop for. Are you an avid photographer looking for a speedy but cost effective platform for editing high resolution photos? If so, you'll benefit from buying a machine with extra RAM and a discrete graphics card. If you've acquired an extensive media collection, and want an inexpensive and compact way to pipe it to your HDTV, a compact PC tailored toward media sharing and playback may be your best bet.

Whatever your needs, you can find a desktop configuration to fit the bill.

Desktops fall into three major categories, each with its own range of price and performance: compact PCs, all in one PCs, and classic tower PCs (which we subdivide into budget, mainstream, and performance categories). Each style of machine has different strengths and weaknesses, and choosing the one that's best for you depends largely on how you plan to use it.

Compact PCs
As the smallest members of the desktop computer family, compact PCs often omit features to deliver computing power in a space saving package. The combination of energy efficient components, quiet operation, and small size makes compact PCs ideal for people who want a nonintrusive machine. A typical compact PC costs between $300 and $600, though the price goes up as you add upgrade options.

Compact PCs tend to be equipped with notebook or netbook components, such as Intel Atom processors. This limits their usefulness in tasks that demand lots of processing power, but it makes for quiet, energy efficient operation. Not all compact PCs are created equal, however, so pay attention to specifications when shopping. Some compact PCs are configured for as low a bottom line price as possible; others are packed to the gills to deliver optimal performance in a compact system.

Most compact PCs rely on integrated graphics. In some cases (depending on the CPU and the integrated graphics chipset), anything more complicated than a Flash based browser game will be unplayable, but you will be able to eke out competent media streaming with Intel integrated graphics. A machine toting nVidia's Ion platform, like the Acer Aspire Revo R3610, usually fares much better. Gaming still isn't an option, but 1080p video is, whether you stream from a larger PC or over the Web.

When assessing smaller PCs, keep an eye on the ports. The smaller the footprint, the fewer features you can reasonably expect, and that includes fewer connectivity options. Though you'll get a VGA port and (on average) six USB 2.0 ports, many compact PCs also offer HDMI an asset for home theater setups. The typical hard drive size is 320GB, though 250GB is also common and we've seen compact system carrying up to 1TB (for a $100 upgrade premium). All in One Desktops
All in One PCs are self contained: components are mounted behind a display, with screen sizes ranging between 18 and 27 inches. With no cords to manage or peripherals to juggle, setting up your new all in one PC can be as simple as pulling the machine out of the box and plugging it in.

With their compact size and integrated displays, all in one PCs can generally be placed wherever you've got a spare power outlet. Some all in ones also offer a rather distinct perk: Touchscreens. With support for multitouch gestures worked into Microsoft's Windows 7, all in ones offer a clever way for users to interact with their media, while still getting a full fledged PC.

All in one components vary from brand to brand, but you can expect to pay more for an all in one than for a similarly equipped desktop; again, some models target buyers on a tight budget, while others load up on performance oriented system components (at a higher price, of course). For example, to low priced machines like the MSI Wind Top AE2010 use notebook or netbook processors and integrated graphics. You'll get reduced performance to match the reduced price tag. If you have a larger budget, you can opt for a model like the Sony VAIO L117FX/B, which includes a quad core processor (most often seen on full size desktops), to deliver superior performance, and offers a large 24 inch screen. You'll be paying in the area of $2000 for those high end specs, however.

Many all in one PCs come with a wireless keyboard and mouse, Bluetooth support, and Wi Fi connectivity. This recuces cord clutter to a minimum an important consideration in spaces where an attractive décor or efficient use of space is at a premium. Budget PCs
A budget tower desktop carries standard desktop components, but can cost as little as $300 if you select older hardware or inexpensive, low end processors. Typically, these PCs are minitower systems, with fewer drive bays than a full tower has. The Acer Veriton X270, for example, offers an older Core 2 Duo processor but delivers relatively speedy performance for just $500. Beware models that come equipped with AMD Sempron or Intel Celeron processors, as those CPUs' performance drawbacks will cancel the advantage of their low cost.

Inexpensive tower desktops usually incorporate low powered, integrated graphics rather than discrete graphics cards. As a result, your entertainment options may be limited. High definition media playback suffers on models equipped with older Intel based integrated graphics; and if you're interested in gaming, you'll be hard pressed to tackle anything more demanding than Flash based offerings. Machines equipped with Intel's Core i3 processor build improved integrated graphics performance right onto the chip; though they still won't be adequate for video games, they will support satisfactory high def media playback.

Budget PCs generally offer at least 320GB of storage space and at least 2GB of RAM, but permit few upgrade options beyond adding RAM or a larger hard drive. They rarely leave much room for expandability inside their cases, either. Still, if you need a machine for nothing more than word processing, e mail, and occasional DVDs or online videos, these machines should suit you just fine. Mainstream PCs
Higher up in the desktop chain, you'll find machines aimed at mainstream users. These PCs start in the vicinity of $800, and carry at least 500GB hard drives and about 4GB of RAM. Powered by dual core and lower end quad core processors, they deliver better performance than budget desktops, without breaking the bank. Consider the Gateway FX6800 01e: For just over $1000, this machine features a quad core Core i7 920 processor, and an ATI Radeon HD 4850 graphics card.

Photo editing applications stand to benefit from working with multicore processors, and entertainment enthusiasts will appreciate the improved gaming performance and stutter free HD media playback that a discrete graphics card helps deliver. Many of the machines in this category include a Blu ray drive, either standard or as an optional extra. And if your video editing needs are modest, you probably can find a machine in the mainstream price bracket that has enough power to handle your creative projects.

Performance PCs
Occupying the high end of the spectrum are performance desktops. Such PCs generally start at a little over $1500, with some outliers like the Maingear Shift hovering in the range of $7000. Most performance PCs are full tower systems, equipped with a slew of drive bays and expansion slots. Designed to tackle challenging tasks, they come equipped with the latest and greatest Intel and AMD dual and quad core processors, 6GB or 8GB of RAM, and at least one discrete graphics card. Some performance desktops include multiple graphics cards to deliver improved graphics performance.

Performance desktops are suitable for users who need a lot of processing power to get their work done professionals who do extensive high resolution photography or video editing, and gamers who are willing to pay for top of the line visual effects.

Traditional PC manufacturers like HP and Dell sell performance machines, but so do smaller boutique PC makers that specialize in highly configurable custom machines, tailored to your needs and budget. For a chart of recent high end models.

10 Tips to Get Your A/V Set for the Big Game

Whether you’re rooting for the Colts or the Saints, you’ll want your A/V system to be in tip-top shape for the Super Bowl next weekend. Many of the tweaks you’ll be able to handle yourself; others might require the handiwork of a custom electronics (CE) professional.

“It might sound silly, but it’s a good idea to do a test run before Sunday to make sure everything is ready to go,” says Rob Roessler of Audio Video Concepts in Columbia, Ill. “There’s nothing worse than finding out the day of the Super Bowl that your cable box is locked up or the picture on your big-screen looks grainy.”

Oh, and be sure to have an extra set of batteries on hand for your remote, too, says Ryan Lipkovicius of Audio Impact in San Diego.

Even if everything seems a-ok, you still might want to bring in a pro to at least recalibrate your TV and sound system. It’ll cost between $100 and $300, but it’ll ensure that the picture and sound are perfect. For example, by adjusting the settings of your A/V receiver, your pro can make it feel as if you’re seated alongside the screaming fans at the stadium. He’ll also be able to check the signal strength of your satellite reception and if necessary realign the dish to prevent signal dropouts or picture pixilation during the game.

The TV itself will probably need a little fine tuning, as well. If you’ll be watching the game on a rear-projection TV or a video screen, make sure the display’s bulb will make it through the game. If you’re concerned about it burning out, have a pro install a new bulb ($300-$700).

Given that the Super Bowl is just a week away, there’s no guarantee a CE pro will be able to squeeze you into his schedule. Thankfully, there are several adjustments you can make on your own. “Some new audio receivers have a calibration microphone built in which makes it a breeze,” says Roessler. “You just go through the setup process and make sure all the levels are correct.”

Derek Cowburn of DistinctAV, McCordsville, Ind., offers another tip: “Test the surround-sound modes [while watching a sporting event] and jot down the modes you like best. Be sure to remember what buttons you pressed to get there.”

If you think your old receiver may not be up to snuff, for around $600 you can trade up to a more sophisticated model. “Basic receivers just produce sound,” explains Ryan Herd of One Sound Choice, Pompton Plains, N.J. “A better receiver will upconvert the audio and video for a much better result.”

If nothing else, take your receiver off “sports” or “stadium” surround mode,” says Eric Thies of DSI Entertainment Systems, West Hollywood, Calif. “These settings are simply corny and defeat the good work of the sound engineer of the Super Bowl.” With the settings disabled, the game will be presented in Dolby Digital—good for listening to both the game and The Who during the halftime.

Want more impact? “Adding a subwoofer to your current speaker arrangement can deliver a little more oomph on big hits and create a more uniform bass field for multiple seats within a media room,” adds P.J. Aucoin of Home Concepts, Calgary, Alberta.

The Super Bowl, as well as other big sporting events, will be presented in high-def, so in addition to fine-tuning your audio and video components, be sure to tweak the display. “If the white of the players’ jerseys is so bright it’s making the players’ numbers look fuzzy, your set is too bright. Dial it down,” says Thies. “Same with color: If the field is the color of glowing nuclear slime, ratchet the color back a bit to a more natural setting.”

Finally, if you don’t already own a universal remote, invest in one ($100-$500). It’ll simplify the setup and control of your system before, during and after the game. A CE pro can program special commands into the remote to really impress your friends. Cowburn recommends a “Commercial Mute” button that lowers the volume then restores it when pressed again (though maybe the ads will be funnier this year). A “Super Bowl” button, suggested by Aucoin, could tune every TV in the house to the Super Bowl—each at a specific volume level (loud in the family room but softer in the kitchen, for example).

Bredolab dan Zbot siap meruntuhkan harapan FACEBOOKer

Perusahaan antivirus Vaksincom mencermati, saat ini setidaknya ada dua virus yang mengancam pengguna Facebook. Virus itu bukan menyebar di Facebook, tapi memanfaatkan jejaring sosial popular itu untuk menjaring korban dan bertujuan mendapatkan akun FB.

“Menurut hemat kami, di tahun ini serangan virus dengan modus operandi mengeksploitasi FB akan makin marak seiring makin populernya FB,” kata CEO Vaksincom Alfons Tanuwijaya, di Jakarta.

Ia menambahkan di dunia virus berlaku hukum pembuat virus akan mengincar sistem operasi atau aplikasi yang paling popular. Hal itu karena korban potensialnya lebih besar.

Oleh karena itu komputer dengan sistem operasi Microsoft Windows lebih menarik dibuat virusnya dibandingkan Mac OS Leopard atau Linux, karena penggunannya paling banyak. Sementara sistem operasi Windows Mobile atau BlackBerry lebih sedikit mendapat serangan, karena secara de facto market ponsel masih dikuasai oleh sistem operasi Symbian.

“Saat ini dua virus yang cukup berbahaya dalam mengeksploitasi FB adalah Bredolab dan Zbot,” kata Alfons.

Bredolab merupakan virus lama yang menyebarkan diri sebagai lampiran e-mail. Sebelumnya, virus ini seolah-olah datang dari DHL. Jika dijalankan, maka virus akan menyebabkan komputer terinfeksi.

Memanfaatkan Facebook yang popular, pembuat virus mengubah e-mail seakan-akan dari administrator Facebook. Pembuat virus meminta password reset Facebook dan menjalankan satu aplikasi yang isinya program berbahaya.

“Jika aplikasi itu dijalankan, maka korbannya akan dibuat pusing tujuh keliling. Selain menginfeksi komputer korbannya, virus juga akan meng-download spyware, scareware berupa antivirus palsu, dan menginfeksi lagi komputer korbannya,” kata Alfons.

Tidak cukup melakukan hal ini, Bredolab juga akan melakukan spam dari komputer korbannya. Akibatnya IP address komputer korban bisa diblok oleh perusahaan blacklist, karena mengirimkan spam dan mengganggu pengiriman e-mail.

Sedangkan cara penginfeksian virus Zbot lebih canggih. Virus ini tidak mengirimkan diri sebagai lampiran e-mail seperti Bredolab, yang bisa diblok oleh mailserver.

Virus itu menyebar melalui email phishing, seakan-akan pesan resmi dari Facebook untuk mengubah password. Jika link tersebut diklik, maka ia akan menampilkan situs palsu Facebook yang meminta korbannya memasukkan username dan password.

Jika dituruti maka username dan password pengguna Facebook akan diketahui oleh pembuat virus. Tidak cukup mencuri password Facebook korbannya, virus ini juga akan memberikan link ke file untuk diunduh yang dikatakan sebagai file update dari Facebook. Jika dijalankan, maka virus akan menginfeksi komputer korbannya dan mengakibatkan komputer itu mengirimkan spam.

Lalu bahaya terbesar apa yang bisa dialami user?

Alfons mengatakan tingkat bahaya tergantung dari korbannya. Korban bisa kehilangan akun Facebook dan jika ada nilai ekonomis di akun itu, misalnya data rahasia rekening perbankan maka akan bisa berpindah tangan.

“Selain itu yang perlu dikhawatirkan adalah bahaya jaringan komputer kantor yang menjadi korban virus ini. Jika komputer mengirimkan spam, maka IP kantor akan di-blacklist sehingga tidak akan bisa mengirimkan email dengan baik, dan seluruh email kantor tersebut akan masuk ke dalam kategori spam. Potensi kerugian ekonominya sangat besar,” ujar Alfons.

Untuk menghindari virus di Facebook, Alfons mengatakan pengguna komputer harus menggunakan program antivirus yang ter-update. Selain itu ia menyarankan pengguna komputer selalu waspada terhadap pemalsuan situs atau webforging.

“Jangan mudah percaya link yang diberikan. Khususnya pada saat memasukkan data penting seperti username dan password, sebaikn, ya perhatikan situs yang dikunjungi dengan seksama,” timpalnya.
